Why finding the right guitar has got harder
The UK guitar retail landscape has changed. While there are still hundreds of specialist guitar shops across the country selling new and used guitars, many well known high street retailers have reduced their footprint or closed stores altogether. As a result, fewer players have easy access to large showrooms where they can compare a wide range of instruments in one place.
At the same time, much of the market has moved online. Today’s buyer is faced with a vast and fragmented choice:- independent dealers, specialist retailers, used-guitar listings and marketplaces, all with different stock, pricing and levels of information. The choice is still there, arguably more than ever, but making sense of it now takes time and experience.
The Guitar Finder helps by researching across this broad landscape of UK guitar shops (local first) and listings, filtering the options, and providing clear, independent recommendations so you can make a confident decision without spending weeks searching.

About me
Hi, I'm Chris, the founder of The Guitar Finder.
I'm a lifelong guitar enthusiast with experience searching for, buying and advising on electric guitars.
Alongside a career in IT project management, I've spent years researching the guitar market, tracking trends and visiting guitar shops whenever I get the chance.
This hands on experience has given me a good, practical understanding of what makes a great guitar and how to find the right one.
I bought my first guitar, an Eko Ranger 6 acoustic, as a teenager and still play it today.
My first brand new electric was a Fender MIJ Stratocaster in 1992. Over the years I've owned, played and enjoyed a wide range of guitars. Some of my favourites include various Fender Telecasters, classic Gibson models like the Les Paul Gold Top and Junior and well regarded Epiphones and Vintages, both new and used.
Over the years I've helped friends land their dream guitar, whether that's tracking down a specific model, finding the best example within a budget or offering honest advice before a purchase.
I started The Guitar Finder to help people who don't have the time or don't feel confident navigating the guitar market on their own.
My aim is simple: to use real-world experience and my time to help you find the right guitar with clarity and confidence.
